Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Salesforce Engineer to our Engineering team.

What you’ll do

  • Own Sprout's managed apps in AppExchange and build new features using Java or Node.js, integrating with Sprout application
  • Work with Sprout teams, consultants, and customers to build and implement solutions and provide consultation to customers in integrating their custom workflows and objects
  • Facilitate customers in installing the managed Salesforce application and maintain product documentation for features, releases, and solutions to common issues

What you’ll bring

We are looking for a senior engineer with a demonstrated history of developing within the Salesforce platform and building custom managed or AppExchange applications that integrate with external systems and APIs. If you enjoy tackling complex problems for customers in the Salesforce ecosystem and building world-class products, we’d love to talk to you!

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • 4 years of experience developing, building, publishing, testing, and maintaining integration heavy Salesforce managed and AppExchange applications using Second-Generation Managed Packages (2GP)
  • Strong knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem, including Apex classes, AppExchange, custom objects, flows, settings, triggers, Rest API, Bulk API, Streaming API, Visualforce, Lightning components, SOQL, permission sets, and SOSL
  • Experience with Salesforce DX and other Salesforce development tools

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I/II or Salesforce Certified Application Architect is a plus.
  • Familiarity with source control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
  • Experience in Java and Node.js and working in cloud platforms such as AWS.

How you’ll grow

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

  • Completing Sprout Social’s new hire training & onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members. You’ll gain a broader understanding of our products and how your role fits into the organization.
  • Making a plan with your manager to set initial priorities, align on expectations for your role, plant goalposts for your career, and be introduced to our Salesforce environment and adjacent tooling
  • Collaborating regularly with product managers, QA engineers, and other product teams to deliver value to our users.
  • Getting regular team feedback on your work through code reviews and pairing.
  • Proactively monitoring the health of our services in production to ensure our customers always have a world-class experience

Within 3 months, you’ll plant your roots, including:

  • Developing a deep understanding of our Salesforce ecosystem and how it supports the business.
  • Decomposing work into small, similarly sized units so that estimation is unnecessary.
  • Working with your squad to create and prioritize tasks/projects.
  • Contributing to our Agile culture of continuous improvement through retrospective meetings and experimentation-oriented thinking.
  • Building connections with members from other teams through guild meetings and chapter outings.
  • Participating in technical design meetings with your teammates to walk through new feature ideas.
  • Working with product managers, UX developers, and front-end engineers to come up with the MVPs of new features.
  • Being the first line of defense against product outages and bugs while on support duty.
  • Maintaining, scaling, and building upon systems that handle hundreds of thousands of messages a day. 

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

  • Being “point person” on a project, including writing design documents, coordinating dependencies, and acting as domain owner.
  • Having your first performance conversation with your manager, where you’ll discuss your accomplishments in your role and work together to build goals for your professional growth
  • Delivering on changes and feature requests from our internal business partners.
  • Regularly reporting on overall project status and recommendations for improvement. 
  • Working and effectively communicating with other groups across the organization to ensure big-picture alignment and encourage cross-team collaboration.
  • Building your engineering skills by attending in-house presentations, workshops, and training sessions.

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

  • Becoming a go-to resource on Salesforce engineering and best practices within the Engineering team.
  • Actively mitigating risk of failed delivery and missed deadlines through courageous, transparent communication with colleagues and stakeholders throughout a project life cycle.
  • Leading technical architecture meetings. 
  • Identifying technical debt and performance bottlenecks within our systems, come up with a plan to improve the code, and get it pushed to production.
  • Mentoring junior engineers, helping them level up technically.
  • Building connections with members from other teams through active networking and community building.
  • Having opportunities to contribute to in-house technical presentations and workshops that share your expertise with large groups of Sprout engineers.

Of course what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

Whenever possible, Sprout wants to provide our team with the flexibility to work in the location that makes the most sense for them. Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. However, we are not set up in all states, so please look at the drop-down box in our application to see whether your state is listed. Few roles require an office setting. If your position requires a physical presence in a Sprout office, it will be evident in the job listing and your offer letter.

The base pay range for this role is $155,000 - $175,000 USD annually. Individual base pay is based on various factors, including relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In addition to base pay, some Sales and Success roles can earn sales incentives. 

Sprout’s compensation ranges are intentionally broad to allow for our team members' growth within their role. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit).  Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays.
